The Radical Speedsport Show in Moncton was a success as usual but what came out of it as far as I'm concerned, was the excitement over the 40th reunion of thr Scoudouc Raceway at Miramichi Dragway this coming July 25th,26th and 27th. The Scoudouc Raceway was a haven for fast cars and exciting racing during its hay-day and the event planned for the reunion is sure to draw the same type of competition. The biggest prizes in Atlantic Canada will ensure fast and competitive racing all weekend

I went into "Once Again Sports" Tuesday and found Amherst's Drag Race Guru gearing up for the upcoming season. Billy Hickey is one of the movers and shakers behind the Scoudouc reunion and is really pumped up about it.

Livingston's car is still sitting on the sidelines. The guys are working hard on it but only so much can be done without a sponsor. There is no sign of one on the horizon yet.

Reagan Smith is very excited about coming back to the Maritimes and particularly "Riverside" this summer. It is an off-weekend for NASCAR Sprint Cup so he is heading here to drive in the IWK 250. Last year he entered this event and brought home a very impressive third place finish. He says he has "unfinished" business at the track.

The CARQUEST Pro Stock Tour is gearing up for their opening race next month at Scotia. The Speedway is getting a face lift this spring, with the tower being redone as well as the centre grandstand section. All will be ready when race day rolls around.

On the NASCAR scene, Kyle Busch continues to make an emphatic statement that perhaps Rick Hendricks made a mistake in letting him go. Busch leads the Truck series, has won three in a row on the Nationwide series, and has been very dominant in the Sprint Cup series as well.

Jeff Gordon is off to a horrendous start, even finishing dead last in one race. Presently is is running 13th, 8 points out of the last "Chase" position so there is still time to catch up. Last year's champion, Jimmy Johnson is fourth at the moment while Earnhardt is 3rd.

Earnhardt Jr is still looking for his first win in two years but one has the feeling it won't be long now. Talladega is up next and Earnhardt always runs very well there and won his last race at Richmond, which is up in two weeks. I wouldn't doubt that once the first win is out of the way, he could go on a tear.

John Chisholm, owner and rebuilder of Riverside Speedway, took ill on the weekend and was airlifted to Halifax where he was operated on for a stomach annurism. He is now recovering well.

Racing also lost one of the "good guys" last weekend with the unexpected passing of Steve Biddington, owner-operator of Maritime Mufflers.

Well, there's not a lot else to say this week so "Gentlemen (and ladies), Start Your Engines
