Prince Edward Island and in particular Raceway Park, is a nice place to be on a Saturday when the Pro Stock Tour is in town. The view from the grandstand is good almost anywhere and the Island hospitality is second to none.

Unfortunately, the view was not as great for Springhill's Sandy Livingston Jr as he was forced to watch the feature from the grandstand as well. The car refused to handle properly, regardless of the many adjustments the crew made, thus he came up one position short in the "Last Chance" race. Livingston made a late charge in this race and almost slipped by but fell short in the end.

This weekend the Livingston crew makes the trip through the toll to Halifax for the Forbes 150, the first extended race on the Pro Stock calendar. This used to be a PASS tour race but this year the Carquest Pro Stock Tour takes it on. It should be a good one as over 36 cars are slated to take part and Halifax always produces a competitive race.

Elsewhere this weekend, Centre for Speed tries once again to get their first "Maritime Super Sportsman" race into the books. It was rained out last Sunday but the long term forecast calls for great race weather this coming weekend. Many of the top Maritime Sportsmen will be there and the spacious oval allows for lots of passing and exciting action. The action takes place on Sunday afternoon and should be on the "Do Not Miss" list.

Although there is no track right in Amherst, two tracks are only a short drive away, Shediac and River Glade. Both offer exciting competition and there is lots of scenery to take in on the way as well. In Shediac there is a monument depicting the largest lobster in the world. It is made of metal and the kids love to climb up and get pictures taken as well. Parelee Beach, as well as several others, are only a stone's throw away, making it an ideal place to go for the weekend and take in the races as well. River Glade is located on Homestead Road, the old Trans Canada, and has a great view of the valley below. There is also a playground on the premises, creating an opportunity for the kids to enjoy themselves with other activities, if they become restless. River Glade is also an alcohol free facility, making it a family orientated facility.

It's only a few weeks away from the big reunion event for Scoudouc raceway, the former drag race track between here and Moncton on the old Scoudouc airfield. The reunion cannot be held there however, and is being held at Miramichi City Dragway. If you are interested in attending, and I know I am, Amherstonians can talk to Bill Hicke at "Once Again Sports" but be prepared to take a few minutes as Billy is very passionate about this event and is on the organizing committee. It is only a two hour (or so, depending on who is driving) trip and there is lots to do and see in the Miramichi area as well. This is a trip and event well worth attending and lots of local area drivers will be participating.

July is sure shaping up to be a great month in racing so come on out and take part in some of the happenings.

Talk to you next week, Gentlemen (and Ladies), Start Your Engines !!!
