Travis Kittleson

Travis Kittleson, born in Wisconsin, raised in Florida, now resides in North Carolina.

Kittleson began his racing career in a unique way. “ I graduated high school and had the money set aside for college but I decided to buy a race car instead. I was a late starter as I was nineteen at the time. I started in Super Late Models, pretty much like these cars but with a little more horsepower. I’ve run some ASA, Nationwide and Truck Series races. In Super Late Models, I was #88. This was for my Dad. His birthday was the 8th day of the 8th month. In ASA I was #30 in memory of my crew chief who passed away with cancer. In Busch, I race the #68. it was trhe only number available to me.”

This is Kittleson’s second visit to Speedway 660. Kittleson raced in the Peterbilt last year. “ It’s a beautiful country. My brother has a cabin in

Thunder Bay. I like the fellowship with the guys, the fans and everything. I told Chris (track operator Chris Johnson) that I wanted to come back and redeem myself.”

Kittleson continued “We wrecked in practice and there were other teams rushing over with parts and everything. Actually, some fans came down and got dirty - putting the car back together.”

Kittleson is driving the Jay Cushman car. “I flew into Maine, then drove here with Cushman and the car. we’re staying in the campground. The car is working pretty good. We were top of the leaderboard in the first test session and second in the next session. We don’t want to over dial it so we didn’t go out in the third session.”

In closing, Kittleson thanked his American sponsors who help him out a lot and Chris for having him back. He also thanked Jay Cushman for lending him the car.
